The International Prison Watch - Lebanese Section
Roy Madkour has been appointed in 1999 as the representative of The International Prison Watch (“IPW”) in Lebanon.
The International Prison Watch (IPW or OIP) is a French non-profit organization established in 1996. It is dedicated to promoting human rights within prisons, advocating for reduced use of incarceration, emphasizing social reintegration, and firmly opposing the use of the death penalty and torture.
IPW later acquired a consultative status at the United Nations.

Lebanese Penal Law Association
In 2006, Roy Madkour and a team of lawyers, in collaboration with MLF, founded the Lebanese Penal Law Association (LPLA) under the guidance of President Michel Madkour, a distinguished judge with four decades of experience, primarily in criminal courts.
LPLA aims to promote a more efficient justice system by fostering the growth of legal frameworks and institutions, conducting research on criminal law and procedural matters, encouraging collaboration among individuals and organizations involved in the realm of criminal justice and promoting human rights in Lebanon.
The Association has been registered at the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities under number 412.
